What is the Shining Star Club?
The Shining Star Club was birthed in February, 2008 as an outreach to the homeless and at-risk children in downtown Knoxville. Directed by God, it is based on Phil. 2:15 where God calls us to "shine like stars in the darkness", so we gather on the first Saturday of every month from 12-2 PM and teach the children what it means to do just that. We offer lunch, provide music, a scriptural based lesson, and play games to not only teach the Word and worship in a fun way, but to offer these special children unconditional love and Christian mentors to encourage their walk in Christ. Many of the children are "unchurched", and we hope to create a fun day to be Jesus with skin on! We do need volunteers or small groups to help provide lunch, craft, music, lesson, or puppet show that day. It's a great way for your families to serve together or your small group from church to do outreach ministry right here in Knoxville.
