Thank you, Panera Bread-Cumberland Avenue
A special thank you goes to Panera Bread- Cumberland Avenue for their generous donation of chips for our lunch after Sunday services. We're grateful for the outreach to our ministry, and appreciative of assistance providing lunch to over 150 people!
Spirit filled day from CCS in Tallahassee Florida
Community Christian School in Tallahassee Florida came up one Tuesday in December to lead bible study & worship time with us! What an awesome & engaging group of kids, and an excellent example of how we should be Jesus with skin on! Judge a tree by its fruit is what the Bible tells us, and we could see their love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and goodness! We are so thankful God brought our paths together!
Our Cup Has Runneth Over!
When you do whatever God wants, He provides whatever you need! That's been our motto, and faith, that we trust in God to follow Him, and He blesses us more than we expect. We were in need of another passenger van. What does God do? Gives us 2! We praise Him, and thank Rhonda Bradley who heard our need, and talked to their church about donating theirs. Thank you so much, and we are using & appreciating all 3!
Van Received!
We are so thankful how God answers prayers! We were praying for another passenger van to help pick people up, and the Estabrook family answered that call! Their van was in the family for awhile, but they were not using it as much as they were. Stephanie Estabrook went on the website and saw the need, and she gave me a call. She came to visit us, and has been back several times volunteering! We are very grateful for their generosity, and service!
New Office & Warehouse!
We are so thankful for the opportunity to rent our first office in 7 years! It also comes with a large warehouse that will allow us to store donations until needed. It is 2 doors down from our ministry center at 1001 University Avenue. God is good, all the time!
A New Storage Building!
A heartfelt thanks goes to Wallace Memorial church who heard our theft and storage problems with our tables & chairs outisde. They went back to their church and presented a missions opportunity to them, and it was approved. They just finished today building a new 12' x 12' room to put our tables & chairs, and other storage needs. We are so very grateful!!!
A Special Blessing from Whittaker & Michael
Check out what these two special boys did thru Christ to bless our ministry by going to the Praise Page. A big praise goes out to them & for God who worked thru them!
A Special Birthday Donation from Michael & Whittaker!
I am always touched by children that think more of others than themselves! It is just a trait we are born with, I believe, to be self-centered and then as we mature spiritually we grow to be Christ-centered. But wow, what an amazing thing to see two 7th grade boys, Michael Sanderson & Whittaker Cunningham, throw a joint birthday party and requested donations to Water Angels instead of gifts! They came to present us with the money on March 8, and received a standing ovation from the homeless for their generous spirit. What we didn't realize until we opened up the envelope is they collected $600!!! God always provides for us, and I am constantly amazed at the methods He uses! I always think it's going to be from the "strong"- the big churches, or wealthy business people. But He constantly shows me how the "weak" teaches the "strong", by actions such as this! To show us He is the Lord, and His will will be done, His way, and in His timing!
Thanks to Nova once again!
It is wonderful to have churches come and help out, but even more special when companies come and help out. Nova Inc., has come out twice now to help us with needs. They completed our Food pantry room, and now have just built shelves for our stock room. It was greatly needed and appreciated to be able to see- we had a light that didn't work, and now to be able to find supplies! God is good- all the time!
A New Look for 2009!!!
Thanks to First Baptist Church of Gardendale, Alabama who once again shined in an amazing way. They came up Valentines Weekend, and painted the church inside & out, painted the inside of Kathy's house, helped Angelic Ministries, organized the basement for us, put in a new washer & dryer, went door to door prayer walking, and delivered food door to door in Western Heights! That was just on Saturday!!!! What an amazing group of kids with huge hearts & incredible "annointed" leader as Leslie Everhart. We need more churches with the willingness & joy to serve as they have-it is contagious & a blessing!
God is Moving Swiftly!
Praise the Lord! When God first opened the door for us on University, we were surrounded by darkness. We had a chop shop to the right, a crack house in front of us, and 2 prostitution houses to the left and behind us. One by one, they moved away, and a couple more places opened up near us again. Right now, however, God did a mighty sweep, and everyone is gone!!!! He has even mowed down the house in back of us completely which harbored some who continued to smoke crack & drink during our services!!! The light always prevails, praise the Lord! Pray that God will open up an opportunity where we can purchase the property in back of us to possibly build a bigger building to hold us all!
Christmas Service Needs Met
Praise be to God for all the needs met for the Christmas service. God showed up and it was like the fish and the loaves- we had more people than expected, but we ended up with more than enough. God is so good all the time, and we had a good day, despite the limited space and overcrowdedness. Thanks to everyone who made this possible!
Fall Festival: Baptisms
We praise God for our new baptistry!!! We christened it with 31 men, women, and children!!!
Fall Festival: "After"
The "After" picture!
Fall Festival: "Before" Picture
Praise be to God for providing for over 300 people today with clothing, shoes, jackets, flu shots, backpacks, toiletries, showers, haircuts, assistance with ID's, furniture, as well as baptizing over 30 men, women, and children. We've planted seeds for God to do spiritual tranformation, and we assisted in many physical transformations. Here is one before picture!
Family Member Found!
God always has a Christmas miracle for us each year where a "prodigal" son or daughter is reunited with family. It looks like God is starting early this year! Thanks to the Shoes for the Soul link on this website, we have posted all the homeless & their pictures. Francine recognized her brother, who she hasn't seen in 13 years, and contacted us. She not only became the "Soul Mate" for him, but wants to help him in some way. Praise be to God that He at least allowed peace to this family knowing that their family member is still alive. Pray that God will lead Nelson back to our ministry, so I can tell him! Pray that he is able to go home to see his ailing Mother. Thank you, Lord, for never removing your hand from us!
Mighty Prayer Warriors!
We are so thankful for George & Sandy McRae's Sunday School class at First Baptist Concord who came down to help with our September food pantry. They did a great job assisting those needing food and praying with as many as possible. What an awesome day to meet physical needs & to lift their spiritual needs to God on their behalf. It was an awesome day serving the Lord today!
Just In Time!!!
Thanks to so many who contributed the $438.63 needed for rent & deposit and for the $200 past due KUB bill, Charlene's apartment opened up just in time! She's due in one week, so she is busy "nesting" getting her place situated before this little boy comes! God sure is always on time, and not only that, He fills your cup overlowing! We were blessed with a bed at Angelic Ministries, but normally you get a used mattress & boxsprings. However, this time, she received a brand new beautiful headboard & baseboard from Thomasville also! She said she felt like a queen, but that was God, blessing her & reminding her how special she is in His eyes. Thank you, Jesus! Also, thanks to all the homeless guys who helped us move furniture!
An Answer to the Call...
Thanks to an incredible generosity by Betsy & Travis Wyrick & Ralph & Karen Helton to assist Martina, and her son Emmette with monies needed to get into their own apartment. Martina was pregnant with little Eric & all were homeless & needing a place to move into before the baby was born. They moved in 3 weeks before the arrival of Eric, and all are doing well, and mentioned numerous times how much they appreciate having somewhere to come home to! Please keep them in your prayers, for Martina being a single mom of now 2!
Special Contributions
A special thanks to Rocky Hill Baptist who is earmarking $1200 for next year's special events! We thank you!!!
A heartfelt thanks to Tom & Shirley Mitchum for donating a used pickup truck for picking up & delivering donated furniture!
We are so thankful for NOVA for coming to add shelves for our food pantry! It is wonderful to see businesses that come to serve the community together as a group! Awesome company!
